Justifiable?

I don't know if I agree with this statement. I realize that they were going through tough times, but part of why they were shoplifting was so that they could blend in physically. I see the logic behind justifiable homicide - it's self-defense. What I don't see is how shoplifting can be justifiable in this situation. People make excuses for every rule, but in this case, I don't think it's justifiable. I can't agree with this.
